Vela Spiego

  • Suitable for novices, the course aims to teach the basics of sailing.

    The objective of the course is to give the student the necessary autonomy for daytime sailing in simple weather conditions.

    Course materials included.

    Course duration and fees:

    Morning or Afternoon (4 hours) 80 euros per person.

    Minimum 2 participants.

    Full day with lunch (8 hours) 130 euros per person

    Minimum 3 participants.

  • Suitable for those who already have experience in sailing and want to consolidate their skills or learn advanced maneuvers and techniques.

    Objectives Intermediate course:

    Mastery of the boat in difficult weather and sea conditions,

    Full mast and sail adjustments.

    Spinnaker handling.

    Theoretical aspects of sailing

    Objectives Advanced course

    Optimization of navigation in all weather and sea conditions (consistent with the boat's endurance)

    Total autonomy in navigation and sailing and crew management skills.

    Regatta:

    Rules, tactics and racing strategy for experienced sailors.

    Course materials included.

    Course duration and fees:

    Morning or Afternoon (4 hours) 80 euros per person.

  • The course aims to teach the theoretical and practical concepts of night navigation such as:

    Safety, guard management, practical recognition of lighthouses and night lights, and instrumental navigation.

    The course is recommended for novice sailors or boaters who wish to consolidate their knowledge of night navigation.

    Course duration and fees:

    5-hour course ( at least 3 of which are dark)

    100 euros per person

    Course material included

  • A course dedicated to the sailor who wants to experience sailing as a means of vacation and who wants to spend a few weeks on a boat.

    Course objectives:

    Managing sailing for long periods.

    Setting a route and itinerary (on Navionics).

    Communication with ports and various marinas.

    Rada and buoy fields.

    Galley and fuel management.

    Use of nautical charts and pilot books.

    Preparing the boat for navigation.

    Knowledge and use of weather forecasting sites (Windy and PredictWind).

    Course duration and fees:

    2 days of sailing with overnight stop in port.

    650 euros for the boat (maximum 4 people) plus port expenses and galley.

    Training materials included.

  • Preparatory theory lessons for:

    Coastal and course racing

    Consolidation of the theoretical foundations of sailing.

    Radio equipment and navigation systems

    Course duration and fees:

    20 euros per hour.

  • Daily boat outings, itinerary agreed together to discover the beauty of western Liguria, possibility of anchoring and snorkeling,

    50 euros per person, about 2 hours, food and drinks included.

A value that is very fashionable today, but difficult to actually apply. Vela Pop wants to be first and foremost a project that uses sailing and the sea to break down barriers of ethnicity, gender, social class, and degree of ability.

The founder of VelaPop:

VelaPop was born out of a desire to share my values, my passion and my way of living sailing and the sea with others.

Project conceived and built by Cesare Piana, sailor for 20 years with 15 years of racing behind him, Level I Instructor of the Italian Sailing Federation, counselor of the Imperia Yacht Club, technical director of the Imperia Sailing School 2022, 2023, ParaSail Instructor, Instructor qualified in Belgium and France (where he worked as a sailing instructor for 5 years). In continuing education at the Italian Sailing Federation and beyond.
